Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu – Western part of India witnesses a union territory namely Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu. The union territory is composed of four different geographical divisions. Daman and Diu are situated bordering Gujarat and the Arabian Sea. With the maximum area, Dadra and Nagar Haveli district is the most populated (3,42,853) among the three.

Geography and Administration
Geographically, the union territory is spread over an area 603 km² sharing its borders with Gujarat and Maharashtra. Diu is an island off the coast of Gujarat. Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu are divided into four distinct areas in the west of India, namely

Daman is an enclave on the coast of Gujarat. Diu is an island off the coast of Gujarat. Nagar Haveli is a ‘C’ shaped enclave located between Gujarat and Maharashtra. Dadra, on the other hand, is an enclave within the state of Gujarat.
The President of India appoints an administrator to a union territory to administer functions on behalf of the central government. The central government with its discretion may or may not appoint advisors to the administrator of the union territory. Earlier, the union territory was divided into two different territories where people spoke different languages and followed different religions. Economy
The economy of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu has the major uplift from the Agriculture sector and the manufacturing industries. As the union territory is new and has not been through the evaluation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the same will be released with time. However, on analysis of the district of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, 60% of the population depends upon the agriculture sector for the living. Out of the 491 km2 around 236 km2 of the area is used for the cultivation. The major crops cultivated in the Dadra and Nagar Haveli district are paddy (rice), ragi, small millets, jowar, sugarcanes, tur, nagli, val, tomato, cauliflower, mango, brinjal, and more.
Dadra and Nagar Haveli district has manufacturing industries contributing towards uplifting the economy of the union territories. The industrialisation has led to a decrease in the unemployment rate over time. More than 2700 units of industries including small to large scale industries.
